Pathankot Airport is located on the Pathankot Majra Road, Pathankot. Pathankot airport is the gift from Vindo Khanna a member of parliament from Gurdaspur, Lok Sabha seat. It was inauguration by Mr. Praful Patel, the then Aviation Minister of India, on 21 November 2006.

Initially, the aim was to develop Pathankot as a tourist destination. But, due to certain reasons flights from Pathankot airport were stopped.
It took around seven years to resume commercial flights to and from Pathankot with the help of Alliance Airlines.
